6th Annual
Celebrity Dinner & Auction
a Smashing Success!

The Brookhaven Animal Rescue League's 6th Annual Celebrity Dinner and Auction was a huge success raising close to $18,000 for the animals.

The waiter of the year, raising the most TIPS, was Dr. Phil Broom from Copiah-Lincoln Community College. His table was appropriately adorned with blue and silver decorations and he was accompanied by Co-Lin's cheerleaders and Wolf mascot.

Receiving the best dressed waiter award was Linda Covington from Brookhaven Honda who gave us her rendition of "Mama" from "Mama's Family." Other waiters were seen dressed as a pirate, a racecar driver, a bank robber (a banker by profession), and several cats. Becky and Bruce Currie served their table while being dressed as the Twilight characters. The entire crew from Mayberry showed up - Andy, Barney, Aunt Bee and Opie - all coming from the Brookhaven Animal Hospital vets and staff. The mayor of Brookhaven, and owner of The Locker Room, was in a full tux with tails. The evening's MC, Patrick Porter, was a wild man as he was adorned in a complete caveman costume.

Gerard Faucheux of Telapex, Inc. entertained everyone with his rendition of "Rescue Pussycat" to the tune of "What's Up Pussy Cat."

The silent auction and the live auction were both extremely successful with over 150 items being up for bid.

All money raised will be used to help homeless and abandoned animals in Lincoln, Franklin and Copiah counties.

The Brookhaven Animal Rescue League is a non-profit, no-kill, all-volunteer animal welfare group that arranges shelter and basic veterinary services for abandoned and orphaned animals until they can be placed with families. No animals are killed just because they are unwanted. The Brookhaven Animal Rescue League provides medical care, food, and housing for these animals. The League also seeks to reduce the number of unwanted animals through education regarding the value of spaying and neutering. All League animals are spayed or neutered.
